Director’s Program Note

“As mountains are for winds, that shakes not, though they blow perpetually.”

What an honor it is to welcome you to this, Shakespeare on the Vine Theatre Company’s third performance at Brice Station Vineyards—a select parcel of beauty in the foothills where lives, families, and dreams have manifested in bright and inspiring ways. In due fashion, our third season has strived to achieve more ambitious and inspired heights upon this mountaintop—with immense success.

With the vigor of our design and construction teams, we have brought an epic Danish castle to Calaveras.

The Brice Station crew nearly quadrupled the power supply, allowing more technical capability than ever before. Actors have rehearsed in 100 degree heat and minds across the country collaborated to bring costumes, sword fighting, and creative insight to perform this powerful play to you this evening. All around, every single member of the team has brought determined zeal and commitment to stage Hamlet—a great gale of a tragedy, but like mountains we have stood strong.

In fact, theatre across the country has been resisting powerful winds.

The fervor of my company members and many American theatre practitioners would all be for not without the enthusiasm our our audiences, you, the patrons, donors, families and friends of the art. We are dedicated to the communal, transformative, and revolutionary ways of theatre because we have been shown by our community that revelatory performance can transform the heart and mind toward kindness.

Thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely, Tara Kayton

Artistic Director
